FAQs

Q. What is an Indy AdCafe? Do you serve food?

A. The Indy AdCafe is website design and internet marketing company that specializes in working with all types of businesses and organizations – from industries to volunteer fire companies to mom and pop stores on Main Street. We provide custom-created, inexpensive websites and marketing plans.

No, we don’t serve food, but it’s funny that some vendors have called us to sell us restaurant equipment, because we have the word “café” in our name. Maybe we’ll add a new cooking range to the office in the future to make our lunches.

Q. Why should I hire the Indy AdCafe to do my website?

A. We create fantastic, original website designs and online marketing plans at very affordable prices. We’re a small established business that will work with you one-on-one on all of your internet projects. The Indy AdCafe will give you personal attention and top-notch service throughout our business relationship. That is our guarantee.

Q. How Do You Make an Advertini? Yum.

A. In honor of the Indy AdCafe’s World Famous Advertini (our internet package of the month), we have created our own cocktail to celebrate – also fittingly called the “advertini”. It’s so refreshing and will help cool you down on a hot summer’s day. Here’s the recipe:

  • One tall glass
  • Two shots of your favorite mixing scotch (we use Johnny Walker Black)
  • Fill it up with tonic water (you can use diet tonic if you’re watching your lb’s)
  • Mix, and then top off with a lemon twist and a Marciano cherry

Now, sip and enjoy!

Q. What are custom-designed websites?

A. All websites from the Indy AdCafe are custom designed specifically for your business or organization. Our copywriters will learn about your business and then write great copy for you, and our designers will create a website that looks exactly how you want to present your business to your customers online. Learn more about our websites.

Q. How long will it take to build my website?

A. It takes approximately 2 to 3 weeks to create your website once we receive all of the research and materials we need from you. We also can’t start on your project until we receive half of your total payment as good faith for the project. We will not ask for the balance until we are finished and you are happy with the results.

Q. Why do I need to host my website with the AdCafe?

A. After your website is built, your business relationship with the Indy AdCafe has just begun. We’ll host and maintain your website. That means you’ll be allowed to make changes and add photos to your website, update your marketing offers and add-on features, and have the freedom to experiment with different ideas. Owning a business website doesn’t mean that you’re limited to an online brochure.

Q. How often can I make changes to my website once it’s launched? How long does it take to make these changes/additions?

A. As part of your hosting and maintenance plan, you can make changes to the existing pages on your website as often as you think is necessary; however, you must supply the additional information and photographs. (We do charge a nominal fee for the creation of new web pages.)

Once we have the information and photographs that you want to post to your website, it will take us up to 24 business hours to make the changes. If it’s an urgent change (meaning that it has an immediate impact upon your business), we will make the change for you within two hours of receiving the information and/or photos that need to be changed.

Q. I can see my website on my Smartphone, so why do I need a mobile website, too?

A. You’re missing sales opportunities if your website doesn’t work properly on mobile phones!

By having your website mobile-ready, it will be easier for cell phone users to find and navigate. Your mobile site will be a .mobi and feature fewer graphics at resolutions that load quickly and have been optimized for iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android, Palm, Windows Mobile and other Smartphones.

You’ll also need an auto detection device to your main website and mobile website. That means when someone types in your .com site domain name from a mobile phone, they will see your mobile site and vice versa when they type in your domain name on their computer. This will ensure that your visitors will get the best experience on your site whether they’re using their phone or computer. Learn more about mobile websites.

Q. What do you mean by “refreshing my website” once a year?

A. If you have a website designed by the Indy AdCafe, we’ll offer you the opportunity to “refresh” your website annually. This means that every year you can give your website a fresh new coat of paint. Change the look, the copy and the photographs to update it or make some minor adjustments to spruce it up. Learn more about refreshing your website.

Q. How can you help market my business? What type of experience do you have?

A. At the Indy AdCafe we have over 30 years of combined marketing experience. A few of us came from the corporate world and the rest from small business. We use our marketing expertise to help our business partners identify their marketing needs and to develop an overall plan that can be easily executed online and in other venues. You can read what some of our clients have to say about us.

Q.I only have email addresses for 20 customers, why can’t I send them emails from my account?

A. If you send emails to more than 10 people at a time, Internet Service Providers could view them as potential SPAM. You also don’t want to send emails to anyone who hasn’t given you permission, because this is also viewed as SPAM. Once you are tagged as a SPAMMER, your future emails could be blocked.

Email marketing is an affordable, effective way to market your small business. You should be contacting your customers at least six times a year. Professional email campaigns are a great way to keep-in-touch about specials, new products/services and daily events. View more on Email Marketing.

Q. Why can’t I find my business very easily on Google Places?

A. Creating a simple listing on Google Places for Business is easy. But, if you want people to click on your business over your competitors’, you have to do more. The AdCafe will add photos/videos and offers to your Places account to show potential customers why they should choose you. We’ll also highlight your special promotions, post live updates, and respond to reviews from your Google account. If you just put your basic information in Google Places, you’ll be pushed down below your competitors’ listings. View more on Google marketing.

Q. Should I Twitter?

A. The largest and most popular social media for marketing are Twitter, Facebook, and Linked-In. Depending upon your type of business and goals, you may benefit from participating in all three or just one of these may serve as your best media outlet.

Only Twitter if you have time to keep up with your followers. Twitter requires that you tweet about 140 words or less, so you need to learn the etiquette so you don’t look like an amateur. You may want to try following some other companies who tweet to see if you like it, and then decide if it’s a good social media outlet for your business. Learn more about Social Media opportunities.

Q. Do I need to add videos to my website?

A. Studies show that visitors are more likely to purchase a product/service or share their contact information on video-enhanced websites. Video marketing can be used to create awareness and interest in your small business online. You can educate your customers, persuade prospects to purchase your products/services, or use it to entertain your site visitors. Videos may also help increase your website traffic through a higher page rank. Learn more about Video Marketing.

Q. What is Foursquare?

A. Local retail companies who want to encourage frequent, repeat visits for their customers like to use Foursquare. It’s a unique and popular way to build customer loyalty and encourage word-of-mouth marketing in a local area. Foursquare users share their location with friends while collecting points and virtual badges. Merchants can reward frequent visitors who instantly share and recommend information about the business. There are a wide set of tools to obtain, engage, and retain customers and audiences. View more about Foursquare.

Q. What is Pickleball?

A. Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. The sport is often played on a tennis court and is marked off with the same dimensions as badminton. The net is lower than tennis which allows for faster play. The paddles are similar to large table tennis paddles and the ball is plastic and looks like a large whiffle ball.

It’s a lot of fun and is much faster-paced then most racquet sports (except for racquetball). For more information, visit this Pickleball website.
